Practically all of SLSG’s NYCB favorites who were not already principal dancers in the company have just been promoted: the always magical Kathryn Morgan (above, with Seth Orza in Martins’ Romeo + Juliet), heartthrobs Robert Fairchild and Amar Ramasar, the always dramatically compelling Tiler Peck and Tyler Angle, and the statuesque Teresa Reichlen.
Here are Tiler Peck and Robert Fairchild rehearsing Robbins’ Afternoon of a Faun for the Vail International Dance Festival over the summer.
And here are Tiler Peck and Tyler Angle performing the adagio from Christopher Wheeldon’s Mercurial Manoeuvres at said festival:
All promos are from soloist to principal, except young ‘un Morgan who was moved up from corps member to soloist.
All of the new principals will make their debut as such at NYCB’s winter season opening night gala, on November 24th, in Peter Martins’s new ballet set to John Adams’s Naive and Sentimental Music, which will make its world premier that night.

*YAY*!!
now, Tonya!: when, When, WHEN is your book coming out??!!
This is such fantastic news, and so well deserved. As an added bonus, we can all stop saying “When on earth are they going to promote [insert any of these names here]?”
I am most excited about Katie Morgan's promotion. I suspect you might have your own favorite among these, but having her in the corps was getting ridonkulous!
OMG…Kathryn Morgan's promotion made my week! Her performances are so spellbinding that I can't get enough of her dancing.
I agree with only 80% newly-appointed principals, but to those who I think fully deserve their promotion: WAY TO GO! My opinion only stems from the fact that City Ballet has so much depth on all three tiers.
Question for fellow readers; do aspiring ballet dancers much rather be in the corps of a major ballet company (i.e. ABT, NYCB, RBC, POB) than be higher ranked in a lesser know company?
Congrats to the newly promoted dancers. KMc, when are the ABT promotions coming.? There are several equally talented dancers at ABT.
Great news!
Also, lovely videos, especially the second with Peck and Angle. Exquisite,
